Along with its recent Marvel purchase, Disney has scooped up the immensely popular anime, Naruto Shippuden, which will air on its Disney XD channel during Fall 2009.
Naruto was taken off the air in the United States not long after Cartoon Network canceled their long-running Toonami action block in September 2008. Since then, there has been no word from Cartoon Network about whether the network would pick up Naruto Shippuden, the continuation of the series that starts when Naruto returns from his 3-year training with Jiraiya.
No fan of Naruto will have to wait on Cartoon Network any longer. Disney announced on September 10, 2009 that it has picked up this series, securing yet another popular franchise license.
Disney Rolling Strong with Young Boy Market
Earlier this month, Disney announced their buyout of Marvel, which was most likely as much of an attempt to push forward with their young boy focus on the Disney XD channel as it was to make more money. The fact that they have sought after the hit anime Naruto Shippuden seems to only emphasize both of those reasons.
Executives from VIZ, the studio that has been producing both the Naruto manga and the anime in the United States, even said as much when commenting on the Shippuden snag. Bill Germain, the media director of programming sales for VIZ, said that Shippuden fits in well with the boy-focused programming of Disney XD.
If Disney XD does pick up a third season of The Spectacular Spider-Man and other Marvel animated series along with Shippuden, the channel would definitely end up as a power house in this market and would most likely pick up several viewers outside of this demographic, primarily Marvel and anime fans.
Will Naruto Shippuden Mean More Anime for Disney?
It's definitely too early to say, but it's certainly something Disney has got to be considering. While it's highly doubtful that Disney will pick up any of the more serious, adult anime found on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming, Disney may look at other anime licenses that run along the same lines as Naruto: fantasy violence with morals and family values that will appeal to young boys. Such titles could include Bleach, One Piece, or Dragon Ball Kai, if that new series becomes licensed in the States.
Disney XD currently plans to air Naruto Shippuden in October, but there have been no definitive release dates as of yet. No matter what happens with Disney and future anime, one thing is for certain: the company picked a great show with a large following as their first anime addition to Disney XD.

Wow!!!Thats amaazing and wierd isnt Naruto Shippuden too mature for Disney
XD sure it is one the best anime/cartoon series ever, but doesnt Disney XD
appeal to young kids mainly I mean in Shippuden there is cigars,alcohol,a
lot of blood,and rough dialouge.It would make more sense to put in CN or
4Kids.Your better off finishing MegaMan Starforce and MegaMan Starforce
Tribe and dub Katekyo Hitman Reborn and put those on the Disney XD.Try
Sonic X OR MegaMan NT Warrior.

I love the fact that they are going to put this show on T.V but if they
change the show a lot or end up stopping the production of the manga and
anime i will definitely be pissed off. So i gues it just depends how
everything turns out lol. Hopefully Disney doesn't ruin this anime
though. P.S - This is my favorite anime and i would hate to see
anything happen to it. And i also like Disney XD so it will be cool if this
turns out good.

Finally a place where they dont badmouth disney xd. I think that this is a
great place to air Naruto Shippuden. CN has gotten really bad since they
dropped Toonami. CN stinks, that is all I can say the ONLY good show on CN
is Bleach and that comes on really late. I guess we'll hafta wait until it
premieres on XD. Than if you dont like how they do it than dont watch it
on TV. Thats all im gonna say.

This is not cool. I better not see Naruto or Sasuke next to Mickey Mouse
the next time I go to Disneyland. That really won't look cool. Disney
should rethink about making Kingdom Hearts into their anime series instead.

Naruto is a great show but I wound say its much to violent for Disney, so I
would think the only way to pull it off without angering to many parents
with young children would be to heavily censor much of the constant
violence that made Naruto so great.

Bell,MegaMan NT Warrior,MegaMan Starforce,Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo-Bo,MAR,and Katekyo
Hitman Reborn as possible anime shows to put on there.

YEAH NARUTO SHIPPUDEN WILL FINALLY BE IN ENGLISH!!!!! I heard rumors that
Naruto Shippuden was going to be on Jetix.But, it's pretty amazing that
Naruto Shippuden is coming back to the U.S. so quickly. I wasn't expecting
it to be on till' 2011 or so on. Too bad for Disney though, Naruto
Shippuden has been showing episodes for nearly a year on Naruto.com since
mid January. And Disney XD will be starting the whole series at episode 1.
So I wonder how that's gonna work out. I know I'm gonna be kinda bored
watching Shippuden in english since I've been watching on Naruto.com. And
not to mention reading the mangas on Onemanga.com.
Now my attention is on Disney adding new anime series if
Shippuden does well. Which is gonna happen. I feel ify about them adding
Bleach to it, even though Bleach is very popular. Let's just see how it
goes mewz...(=^O^=) NARUTO 4EVER Naruto Shippuden will be airing on Disney
XD on October 28,09 at 5:00pm pacific time
